I always wanted to start a blog, but I also needed a reason why before the how and the what. Beyond personal branding or reputation, I came to a point in my journey after many years and experiences where I can define my purpose as helping people and organizations be better, grow, and be better. Also, I do believe that if I want to change something, I need to do better, be better, and grow better. Guess what? Journaling could be an amazing habit for that.
For many years, self-growth is a discipline that I embarrassed to enhance my skills. But How? Short answer: Put your mind into action and be better. And how to put my mind into action when it comes to self-growth and upskilling? I would say make a plan, work on it, and journal the process., the experiences, and the learning.
It could be easy to know how to start a blog, but it is essential to know what to write about and why you are doing it. It gives you a reason to start, continue, and sustain the process.
Start with Why
Start with why is a good self-growth approach. When starting a growth journey, start with why comes from your inner values and then extend to habits and environmental changes. Starting a blog by finding your why is a baseline to define a purpose to this journey and a reason to sustain this habit.
Think and (Re)Think my knowledge
As a lifelong learner, one of my activities is to rethink my knowledge and assess my perception. Rethinking our experiences and knowledge is a great practice to grow and challenge our perceptions in different fields. The golden word here is perception, and our perceptions as humans may change at different times and in many ways based on our background, environment, and available information.
Stay Creative
Whether we are talking about creativity as a skill, mindset, or daily routine, creativity becomes a necessary personal and professional skill to stay healthy physically and mentally. The habit of journaling is an excellent practice to keep creative and open our minds to new ideas and possibilities.
Put ideas on papers (and actions)
Every day, we cross paths with thousands of thoughts, wishes, or ideas. We may have aspirations or face some challenges and think we have many issues to solve. The easy exercise of putting those issues or thoughts on a piece of paper may help us realize how “small and few” they are and even how easy they are easy to solve and manage.
Enhance skills (upskills)
In a very challenging world, and by challenge, I am also talking about self-challenge; we should improve our skills to be better. At school, at the office, or even at home, upskilling and reskilling help us and the people around us to be better. Let’s also remember that we live in a more digitalized world that forces us to adapt to new communication tools and assets.
By starting a blog, I aspire to enhance different skills and share knowledge, experiences, and tools in many areas that I am passionate about, like Entrepreneurship, Self Growth, Upskilling, and Social Innovation.
Develop new skills (Self Growth)
We may think we know until we challenge what we know or challenge ourselves. Upskilling could be a tremendous vertical habit to be better. But what about growing and being better horizontally: developing new skills and exploring our knowledge and skills in areas we don’t know. It may sound like leaving the comfort zone, but it’s also about exploring new ways, styles, and approaches in areas we know or think we know.
Connect with like-minded people
I like to act as a dots connector (by dots, I mean people and organizations). The more we connect the dots, the more we create connections and values. By starting this journal, I want to open doors to opportunities to connect with people I have in my networks and many others that I don’t. Also, I am convinced that by sharing our works, paths, passions, and focus areas, life will do its magic and make us meet new connections that could shape or reshape our journey.
I don’t believe that achievement is due to luck. For me, achievement is just preparation (work, hard or smart, it’s up to you) meeting opportunities. In the same way, when I start a blog, my approach is not to “fish” in a blue ocean called the web, but I am seeding sharings, insights, and learnings that could grow in a multi-stakeholders ocean called a network.
Start a blog and share what you know and probably what you still don’t know with your peers. I don’t know if there is a secret formula, but I know a not secret formula: Make an impact and share it. What’s next may not even figure out your plan.
Share the process
When I start questioning why I want to start a blog, I cross paths with many other questions: What do I want to leave as a legacy? What footprint do I want to make in this digital world (whether it’s the web, the metaverse, or something else)? And whether it’s for my future children, friends, network, or even people I don’t know (or don’t meet yet), What do I want to share with them? What could I bring and could add value? Those questions may seem utopic, but as soon as you put your mind into action to answer them, you figure out that the answers are more simple than you thought, and the steps to take are even more straightforward.
Document my journey
I am not an expert and don’t think anyone could be one in this fast-changing world. But I am sure that I will always be a lifelong learner, seeking knowledge, experiences, and challenges. Throughout this journey, and by starting a blog, I want to document this process and share the different tools, meetings, and milestones I am going through. For sure, the journey didn’t start here, and this journal space on my blog is also an opportunity to come back to different past experiences.
In another dimension, many of us are unhappy with some of the content we see and read that we could spend hours analyzing, criticizing, and helping to expand. The idea here is that I do not want to present myself as an influencer or an alternative, but rather as an option and a friend on a long journey that I will share with you, through which I am expanding my comfort zone with many experiences, knowledge and new experiences, as well as meeting people who share the same path.
So What are you waiting for? Find your why, put your mind into action and start a blog, or start an initiative, a project and be better!
I will be very happy to share this journey with me through this website and various social media.
Have a good one and see you next!
