Most professionals know which skills would make the biggest difference to their work: data analysis, design, public speaking, a new software tool, or project management. What they lack is a flexible, affordable way to learn those skills without stepping away from their responsibilities.

Udemy is an online learning marketplace with a very large catalog of video courses on professional, technical, creative, and personal topics, created by independent instructors. Courses can be purchased individually with lifetime access, and subscription options give access to a curated collection of courses.

The connection to Mastery is deliberate skill building. The Method treats mastery as focused practice on the skills that matter for your work. With the right course and a clear goal, Udemy can provide a structured path for that practice.

What Udemy Does Differently

The main difference is breadth and specificity. Because instructors publish courses on very specific topics, you can often find a course on exactly the tool or technique you need, rather than a general program that covers it briefly.

The second difference is flexibility. Courses are self-paced, available on mobile, and, when purchased individually, remain accessible, so you can learn in short sessions and return to lessons later when you need them.

The Honest Part

Course quality varies widely, since instructors are independent. Reviews, previews, the curriculum, and the date of the last update are important to check before buying, especially for fast-changing technical topics.

Self-paced learning also depends entirely on your discipline. Many courses are started and never finished. Prices change often, with frequent discounts. Check Udemy’s site for current offers.
