After years building a career across engineering and sales, I trained as a certified executive coach, a discipline with almost nothing in common with what came before it. The instinct to skip the basics, since I already considered myself competent in other areas, would have produced a shallow result. What actually worked was treating the fundamentals seriously, even the ones that felt almost too simple to need practice, and accepting that early sessions would be clumsy before they became natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
